Born in 1956, Samir Aich graduated from Government College of Art and Craft in 1978, and has been exhibiting regularly in Calcutta and across India.

His art usually borders abstraction and Aich uses unusual surfaces and media to express his creative thoughts, which are passionate and spontaneous. He plays with dark colours with an organic overtone, using scratches and dots, which together conjure a powerful and spectacular visual rendering, which is at once sensitive and bold. However, in this exhibition Samir departs with a playful figurative language which is both charming and minimalist in essence.
