Haren Das
A fine printmaker and teacher, Haren Das (1921-1993) is best known for his woodcut prints both in colour and black and white. Educated by Ramendranath Chakraborty at the Government School of Art, Calcutta, Das developed his original style based on using light and shade. An extremely skillful artist Haren Das explored the art of printing with fine lines. His works became extremely popular as they touched the heart of Bengali viewers, with his imagery of a rural Bengal setting.
