Bindhi Rajagopal
Bindhi Rajagopal (b.1973) is an artist and educator with over 25 years of experience in the field of art. She earned her undergraduate degree from R.L.V. College of Fine Arts in Kerala, and went on to obtain a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from KSOU in Mysore. Rajagopal has received numerous awards and recognition for her exceptional artistic abilities, including the Kerala State Award for Painting in 2010 and the State Award for Installation in 2014 from the Kerala Government. As a senior professor at the Asian School of Architecture and Design Innovations and an art curator, Rajagopal emphasizes the importance of integrating visual arts with architecture to promote eco-friendly practices in design. She encourages her students to develop the “Green Building Concept” to contribute to their community’s social and environmental well-being.
In her recent work, Rajagopal highlights the vital role of mangrove forests in supporting diverse marine life and protecting coastal regions from erosion, storm surges, and tsunamis. She stresses the urgency to protect these fragile ecosystems from rapid deforestation caused by unsustainable shrimp farming. Her artwork aims to raise awareness of the importance of mangrove forests and urges people to be mindful of their shrimp source and educate others about these valuable resources.
