Manas Naskar
Manas Naskar (b. 1984) is an artist hailing from the lush and verdant surroundings of Kolkata, West Bengal. The breathtaking natural beauty of his birthplace has been ingrained in his very being, and it is this very essence that he captures in his paintings. With a bachelor’s degree in visual arts from the Government College of Art & Craft in Kolkata, he experiments with various painting materials to better understand the changes in nature and environment around him. His recent works reflect the intense and pertinent relationship he has with his natural habitat and its landscape, seeking to revisit the genre of painting with a romantic ideology. He captures fleeting moments, where a shift of the sun creates a magical aura, and the rustling of leaves, gentle shadows, oscillating grass fields, lone trees, and flamboyant movements of light upon the dense vegetation captivate his eyes and mind. His landscapes represent the love he has for his surroundings, forming the base of his visual library and becoming a very part of his breathing.
