Siraj Saxena
A student of the Government Institute of Fine Arts in Indore, Siraj Saxena’s (b.1974) natural flair for creativity was evident since his formative years. From helping his mother in the kitchen to stitching and decorating at home, he found joy in expressing himself through various mediums.
His art is often inspired by a unique landscape, one that is more representative of his inner world than the physical one. While his creations feature elements of nature such as leaves and shapes, they are predominantly non-representational, leaving the interpretation to the viewer’s eye. What sets Siraj apart is his ability to fuse rural and tribal elements into his contemporary landscape, thus carving a niche in the Indian art world.
Siraj’s paintings can be described as portraits of landscapes, they do not follow a narrative but excavate a different world of imagination and dreams. His silent poetry of colours and textures communicates with the viewer, inviting them to evoke their own meaning and interpretation. Siraj’s paintings combine the visual and the spiritual, that do not lead you away from your world but excavate the other world.
